Smoked Salt & Pepper Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds are delicious smoked on the Traeger Grill. Smoking adds another layer of flavor to this Fall treat.
Smoked Salt & Pepper Pumpkin Seeds
Seeds from one or two pumpkins
Olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
A pinch of spice (optional), I like Aleppo pepper
- When ready to smoke, start the Traeger grill on Smoke with the lid open until the fire is established (4 to 5 minutes). Set the temperature to 350 degrees F and preheat, lid closed, for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Remove pumpkin pulp and strings from seeds. Rinse under cold water. Dry on towels. Toss seeds with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and spices (optional). Lay seeds in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Smoke about 40 minutes, tossing seeds occasionally and tasting. Adjust seasonings if necessary. Remove from Traeger when seeds are golden brown. Store in airtight container at room temperature.
Variations: You can change the spices and create different variations. For example, try a pinch of curry powder for an Indian flair, or some Cajun spice or smoked paprika. There are endless varieties that you can make.
